BALA Town captain Chris Venables' tally of 15 goals in 15 JD Cymru Premier matches has set him on the right track to securing a fifth Golden Boot come the end of the 2020/21 season.

The attacker won the prize three times for Aberystwyth Town between 2013-14 and 2015-16, netting 24, 28 and 20 goals to top the list.

The 35-year-old scooped the accolade again with 22 goals in 26 matches for the Lakesiders last season.

In the current season, Venables has continued that fine form to lead Bala Town up to third in the table and place himself as the leagues top scorer to date with 15 goals.

The skipper was off the mark with a brace in a 5-1 win away at Penybont before scoring in Bala's only loss so far - 2-1 at home to Haverfordwest County in October.

Venables followed that up with goals against Aberystwyth Town (2), Barry Town United (3), Newtown (1), Flint Town (1), The New Saints (1), Penybont (1), Caernarfon Town (1) and Cardiff Met (2).

In what has been a great season for the player so far, it is only champions Connah's Quay and Bruno Lopes' steadily-improving Cefn Druids side that Venables hasn't yet netted against.

TNS forward Greg Draper is hot on Venables' heels with 13 goals in 14 games, but who will come out on top of the top scorers list come the end of the season?
