A DENBIGHSHIRE golf club, described as an ‘undervalued asset’, is set to undergo a transformation.

Ruthin’s Llanfwrog Community Range is under new management and is set to be re-branded as Vale Golf Centre in the coming months.

‘Significant’ investment is being made at the site, which is expected to launch on Masters weekend (April 9).

Locals William Jones and Graeme Howard are looking after the project - alongside a PGA (Pro Golfers Association) professional who is remaining anonymous for the time being.

Speaking ahead of the opening, William said: “The range will be headed up by an experienced PGA professional, who will be bringing a host of top golf brands to the centre - Wilson, Ping and TaylorMade to name just a few.

“Full coaching facilities will be available within the ‘Pros bay’ and we will be posting regular progress at the site over the next few weeks, so please keep an eye on Facebook and alike.”

The Vale Golf Centre will be officially taking over the site in April.

The Ryder Cup legacy fund initially paid for the opening of the Llanfwrog site in 2010.

It is an entirely separate entity to the Pwllglas Golf Club which is also based in Ruthin.

It's new owners believe the site was in 'dire need' of refurbishment and hope they can breathe new life into it and attract golfers from all over the region to the driving range.

William added: “Significant investment is being made to transform the site with launch date set for Masters weekend. We feel the range is a hugely undervalued asset at present, and want to create a space that attracts golfers of all ages from across North Wales.”
