A BRAND new golf centre is set to launch in Denbighshire at the end of this month.

Work has been progressing well at the re-branded Vale Golf Centre in Ruthin which will open its doors to the public on Saturday, March 27.

Previously known as the Llanfwrog Community Range, the site has recently been taken over by new management who believe it to be an 'undervalued asset' in the county.

Locals William Jones and Graeme Howard are looking after the project, with newly-qualified PGA pro Gareth Williams also taking up residency.

Williams, who learnt his trade at the highly-respected Conwy Golf Club, will be providing both individual and group sessions on Mondays and Wednesdays to begin with.

Work being carried out at the site over the past two weeks has included the cladding of walls and the laying of tarmac for the entrance to the site.

The Ryder Cup legacy fund initially paid for the opening of the Llanfwrog site in 2010.

It is an entirely separate entity to the Pwllglas Golf Club which is also based in Ruthin.

It's new owners believe the site was in 'dire need' of refurbishment and hope they can breathe new life into it and attract golfers from all over the region to the driving range.

William Jones said: “Significant investment is being made to transform the site with launch date set for Masters weekend. We feel the range is a hugely undervalued asset at present, and want to create a space that attracts golfers of all ages from across North Wales.”

The centre will be open 10am to 9pm Monday to Friday and 10am to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday. Visit Vale Golf Centre on Facebook for further updates.
