A 31-PLAYER squad has been selected for Wales’ opening World Cup Qatar 2022 Qualifying matches and international friendly at the end of March.

The men’s squad will be back in action for the first time in 2021 following their stellar performance in the UEFA Nations League and subsequent promotion to League A.

Caretaker manager Robert Page will lead the team for the upcoming three matches, supported by Albert Stuivenberg, for the two qualifying matches against Belgium and the Czech Republic.

Page’s appointment comes after manager Ryan Giggs was arrested and bailed in November following an allegation of assault from his partner Kate Greville, which he denies.

Aaron Ramsey was a surprise inclusion in the amid concerns over a thigh injury which forced him to sit out of a club fixture for Juventus on Saturday.

Joe Allen returns to the fold for the first time since the end of 2019 after recovering from an ankle injury which kept him out of last year’s UEFA Nations League campaign.

Returning to the squad once again is Cymru’s most-capped goalkeeper, Wayne Hennessey, after an injury he sustained in our away match in Bulgaria meant that he was unavailable during the November international window.

Hal Robson-Kanu also returns to the fold after a broken wrist kept him away from the latter games of the Nations League campaign.

With the focus now turning to the World Cup Qualifiers, a larger than usual squad has been announced to cope with the tight run of fixtures.

Wales will face familiar foes Belgium away in Leuven for the group’s opening match on Wednesday, March 24 before travelling to Cardiff to face Mexico in a friendly match on Saturday, March 27.

The national team’s aspirational campaign will then resume against the Czech Republic on Tuesday, March 30.

The 31-man squad is as follows:

Wayne Hennessey, Danny Ward, Adam Davies, Tom King, Neco Williams, Rhys Norrington-Davies, Connor Roberts, Ben Cabango, Chris Gunter, Ben Davies, Joe Rodon, Chris Mepham, James Lawrence, Tom Lockyer, Joe Allen, Joe Morrell, Dylan Levitt, Ethan Ampadu, Matthew Smith, Brennan Johnson, Josh Sheehan, Daniel James, Rabbi Matondo, Johnny Williams, Tom Lawrence, Aaron Ramsey, Harry Wilson, Kieffer Moore, Hal Robson-Kanu, Gareth Bale and Tyler Roberts.
