CAER CLWYD FC returned to the pitch with a late victory on Saturday.

Denbigh's newest club were officially formed last year and, as such, are still awaiting their first competitive game.

Nevertheless, they showed promise in friendlies before the last lockdown in December 2020. And, on Saturday, they maintained good form by beating Hospice FC 2-1.

Clwyd, who will play in North Wales Coast East Division One, started off strong and kept the ball well. However, it was the visitors who struck first when they caught Clwyd's keeper out after14mins.

A spirited second half performance saw the home side back on top but it wasn't until the last 10mins they managed to turn the tie on its head.

On 81mins, a quick throw in from Keiran Kendrick put Joel Rowlands in behind who turned his last man and finished neatly for 1-1.

The tie was settled when a corner three minutes later by Fran Roberts found Rowlands who volleyed home to make it 2-1 to Clwyd.
