THE second qualifying round of the FAW Welsh Cup produced great matches once more as victorious clubs progressed to the first round proper of the competition.

The biggest winners of the day in North Wales were tier three club Denbigh Town who hammered Rhuddlan Town 12-2.

Rhuddlan had produced cup magic in the last round by beating higher league opponents St Asaph City.

But there was no such luck this time around as a formidable Denbigh side swept them aside.

Denbigh captain Mark Roberts bagged five goals, Jake Walker hit a hat-trick and Jacob Barratt (2), Dan Clarke (1) and Lee Davey (1) were all also on the scoresheet. Ryan Potts and an own goal from Mark Sharples saw Rhuddlan score two.

Porthmadog also swept their opponents Mountain Rangers aside in ruthless fashion with a 9-0 win in qualifying round two.

Nathan Craig, Josh Banks, Jamie McDaid and new signing Matthew Jones were all at the double with a spectacular own goal completing the scoreline.

Elsewhere, Holyhead-based Caergybi FC continued their run in the cup with a 5-0 win over fellow Anglesey club Llangoed.

Dale Moffat's side, entering the cup for the first time ever will now head into the first round proper thanks to a hat-trick from Louis Chapman and one goal apiece from Owain Griffiths and Tom Scott.

Mold Alexandra advanced with a 3-0 win over Connah's Quay Town - Dan Warren, Dominic Doherty and Matthew Lewis sending them through.

Rhyl 1879 are also through into the first round proper of the competition having beat local rivals Prestatyn Sports 2-0 at Belle Vue.

In a feisty match up which produced eight yellow cards and a red card after just 42mins for Shane Middleman, it was Carl Lamb who opened the scoring from the spot just before the break.

Chris Bennett's early goal in the second half saw 1879 take control and they battled well to progress.

Llanfairfechan Town progressed with a 5-1 win over Bro Cernyw, Elliott Croston the hero with a hat-trick for the away team.
