CAN flying Ruthin Town make it five wins on the bounce in Cymru North tonight?

That's certainly the aim at Memorial Park Fields, with Gresford Athletic the visitors this evening.

Phil Hudson's Ruthin go into the contest on a fine run of form - although they have now been away from action for a fortnight.

Their last game was at Bangor City, which saw Ruthin triumph 2-1 thanks to Matty Hill's double.

This was enough to see Town climb to a lofty fifth position in the table, above the likes of Bangor, Colwyn Bay and Prestatyn Town.

With Halloween on the way, October is well known for its horror shows.

However, Gresford Athletic will want to banish the demons from their defeat at Holyhead Hotspur earlier this month as they return to action tonight.

A trip to Memorial Park Fields is in store for Eddie Maurice-Jones' charges, with the match at in-form Ruthin Town.

Gresford had been on a decent run of form before their trip to Holyhead, but this came to a halt when they were hammered 5-0.

Asked if the Holyhead game was a horror show, Gresford director of football Steve Halliwell said: "It was worse than that.

"It was terrible to be honest with you.

"There's only one way we can go from there and that's upwards.

"There was nothing positive to come from it.

"That is a mile away from where we should be and where we have been recently.

"They had one of them games where they played really well and deserved the victory and we didn't show up.

"I have discussed it amongst the staff and we can't put our finger on it.

"I can't explain it and it's one of them we need to draw a line under it."

A different outcome will be the target at Ruthin, with Halliwell adding: "It's a different prospect and it's a tough place to go.

"Phil Hudson's got a great set of lads there and they're performing for him.

"We need everyone digging in together and pulling in the right direction.

"We are comfortable at the minute but a few bad results and we could be pulled into a relegation scrap.

"It's one result and it doesn't define the season.

"But if we don't nip it in the bud we know it will get worse.

"But we're confident of going to Ruthin on Friday night and putting it right.

"A good result in football turns everything around."

Former Ruthin favourite Jordan MacCarter is likely to be unavailable, but Gresford hope Dave McIntyre is fit for the weekend.

It's also been a positive spell for Ruthin Town Reserves, who have taken a maximum nine points in the space of a week.

The latest success was a magnificent 7-1 home margin versus St Asaph City Reserves, which moved Ruthin up to second spot in the table.

Tom Roberts (2), Meirion Pughe, Mussab Benaly, Tom Mann, Connor Lloyd and an own goal completed the Ruthin tally.
