THE defending Cymru Premier League champions proved to be too strong for Bala Town over the weekend.

The Lakesiders conceded back-to-back league losses for the first time this season as Connah's Quay Nomads hit four at Maes tegid, with Bala's bad night being compounded by red cards for skipper Chris Venables and Kieran Smith.

Colin Caton’s side got off to the worst possible start when the Nomads were awarded an early penalty.

Nathan Peate was adjudged to have fouled Aeron Edwards in the area despite getting a foot to the ball with his tackle.

Callum Morris stepped forward to converted the spot kick for Craig Harrison's outfit.

The visitors looked comfortable in the lead, with Bala deciding to push men forward in their efforts of trying to bring the score level.

Chris Sang looked the main threat to the champions’ lead as he was a nuisance down the left flank.

He brilliantly beat two opposition players and set up Dave Edwards, who found an offside Paul Rutherford at the back post bring an end to Bala’s first real opportunity.

Every time the Nomads went forward, they looked threatening and Craig Curran doubled the lead when he got the final touch to a Declan Poole cross.

It was pretty much game over shortly after the break as the Nomads made it 3-0.

Ryan Harrington tried his luck from far out with an unstoppable strike.

Matters got worse for the Lakesiders as Morris grabbed his brace ten minutes later and it was game over with the midfielder smashing the ball home amidst some disastrous defending.

Venables was then sent off for a challenge on Jamie Mullan and Smith followed the captain on his long walk to the dressing room when he was also shown a red card for bringing down the same man.
