DENBIGH Town managed to rescue a point thanks to Jake Walker's effort in the dying minutes at Brickfield Rangers.

In a game where they had large spells of possession, Town were guilty of some defensive lapses which allowed the hosts to capitalise and take the lead on three occasions.

The game kicked off early at 1.45pm and Brickfield were quickly out of the blocks.

Within a minute, they had seized on a defensive error just inside Denbigh’s half and as Haci Ozlu made his way into the penalty area he was brought down, with the referee pointing to the penalty spot.

Although Denbigh keeper Joe Griffith got a hand to it, Ozlu's spot kick found the back of the net.

Denbigh steadily gained a foothold in the game and they equalised after 11 minutes.

A goalmouth scramble followed Kristian Pierce's corner and Stuart Jones scored from close range.

Brickfield responded and Griffith had to be on his toes to save well from Andy Vale, before Henry Dunn also forced Denbigh’s keeper into another great save.

Seconds later and Jake Walker brought a superb save from Jamie Griffiths in the Brickfield goal after Denbigh broke.

Half time came with the team’s level and Denbigh had plenty of possession in the early stages of the second half.

However, on 65 minutes, Brickfield took the lead once again.

Haci Ozlu combined with Andy Vale and the latter sprinted with the ball from the halfway line to slide an effort past the advancing Griffith.

Denbigh upped the pressure and it paid off with a quarter-of-an-hour remaining.

Jacob Barratt was fouled in the box for a penalty to be awarded, which was duly tucked away by Kristian Pierce.

Having pulled back the deficit twice, Denbigh once again allowed Brickfield to move forward and a rash challenge on Haci Ozlu on 79 minutes saw the referee award the third penalty of the afternoon.

Once again, Ozlu had no problem converting the kick to give the hosts a 3-2 lead.

With the minutes ticking away, Denbigh sent men forward seeking the equaliser with some desperate but effective defending from Brickfield thwarting attempts from Sam Jones and Jacob Barratt.

Another Denbigh breakthrough came deep in injury time.

Substitute Lee Davey shot powerfully from 18 yards and Jake Walker deflected the ball to send Jamie Griffiths the wrong way and give Denbigh a hard earned point.
