THE year wound down for most local athletes with a parkrun.

Prestatyn Running Club provided a large proportion of participants in the Nova event on the promenade.

Coming back from injury, Steve Skates led the 10-strong contingent home in fourth place overall, but the only member to record a personal best for the course was Ally Reid.

Just 24 hours after his parkrun, Martin was again in action again, nicking the longstanding M65 record in the Rother Valley, Rotherham, where he clocked 43.32.

Members are reminded to submit their entries for the North Wales cross-country championships to be held in Wrexham on January 8 as the closing date is New Year's Day.
