WHAT a gr-eight end to the season it turned out to be for Ruthin Ladies Hockey Club.

Ruthin concluded their programme with an 8-1 success at home to Dysynni 2nds and now they have something of a waiting game.

While they sit at the top of their North Wales League division with a four-point gap, chasing Bangor City have two games left to play, so they could still overtake Ruthin.

Determined to get a win, Ruthin took the lead against Dysynni in the opening quarter-of-an-hour through Eleri Jones.

Jones was then the provider for Linda Harrison to double the lead, while Jo Lewis scored from a short corner for Dysynni.

The first half belonged to Ruthin, though, and two goals from Mali Thomas made it 4-1 at half-time.

There was excellent communication by Ruthin in the second half as they continued to have the better of things, with incredibly effective one-two passing throughout the pitch.

Linda Harrison managed to bag another goal after good work by Mali Thomas.

Soon after, Harrison was celebrating her hat-trick courtesy of a reverse stick effort.

Gwen Rees scored goal number seven and it was left to player of the match Mali Thomas to conclude the scoring.

She secured her hat-trick by lifting the ball into the back of the net.

It's been wonderful to see the development of the team throughout the campaign and to finish the season on such a high.

Ruthin would like to thank Chris Harness and Mark Evans, while thanks also go to the supporters and The Feathers Inn.
