RUTHIN couldn't have hoped for a better start to their North Wales Cricket League Division Two campaign.
Travelling to Northop 2nds, Ruthin were able to secure a five-wicket triumph.
A disciplined display from the visitors' attack meant that Northop were restricted to 160-7 from their 40 overs.
Jac Evans was the pick of the Ruthin bowlers with his 4-38 return, while there were also wickets for Osian Roberts, Gareth Beach and Jonny Clayton.
Evans was also in brilliant form with the bat, scoring 63 from just 52 deliveries as Ruthin responded with a winning 161-5 with 10 overs to spare.
Murray Whitehead (42 not out), Jamie Hughes (15) and Gareth Beach (12 not out) were also in good form with the bat.
