WHAT a terrific start to the cricket season is has been for Corwen.

Playing host to Dolgellau 2nds in Division Four of the North Wales League, a dominant display saw Corwen claim a 147-run success.

Batting first, Corwen were able to set 204 for five from their 40 overs.

Opener Kevin Sharp (41) set the ball rolling, before Nathan Aldridge struck 63 batting at number three.

Other good efforts from John Wildman (29 not out) and Harry Pooler (20) helped Corwen beyond the 200 mark.

Despite the best efforts of Iwan Parry (22), Dolgellau's reply was halted on 57.

Aldridge grabbed 3-1 in four overs, with William Pooler bagging 2-5 from his eight overs.

There were also wickets for Harry Pooler, Simon Harrison and Daniel Jones.
