RUTHIN were unable to continue their winning start to the Division Two season.
Instead, it was weekend visitors Carmel & District who eased to a six-wicket margin of victory during a tough contest for batsmen.
Ruthin skipper Jamie Hughes won the toss and he elected to make first use of the batting track.
There was a solid enough start supplied by openers Dafydd Roberts (17) and Duncan Roberts (15), but these were the only two batsmen to reach double figures as Ruthin were bowled out for just 69 in 28 overs.

Doing the bulk of the damage was Ieuan Jones, who finished with superb figures of 5-8 from his eight overs.
Connor Hughes chipped in with a 2-24 return.
Ruthin's bowlers had little margin for error and they did grab four wickets, but they will be disappointed with the fact they conceded 24 extras as Carmel replied with 70 for four.
The key innings came from opener Daniel Owens (16) as Richard Henderson (2-25), Oliver Jones (1-9) and Gareth Beach (1-17) kept Ruthin interested.
Carmel secured 13 points, with Ruthin taking two points.
