WHAT a time for Mike Hobday to test his new watch!

Denbigh Harrier tried out the timepiece in the 11th race in the Joe Brown Series - Tal y Mignedd - last Tuesday evening.

Over a route of just over three-and-a-half miles with nearly 1,800 feet of ascent, Mike had a strong run coming in the second M60 and 44th out of 66 runners in a great time of 52.13.

Thursday evening saw the first in a series of four of the Deeside Off Road Grand Prix races.

Two Denbigh Harriers ran the one-lap course over four miles of varied terrain. Emma Collins was the first Harrier home finishing 18th overall, second lady and first in her age category in an excellent 28.49.

Duncan Jones also had a fantastic run, finishing 32nd overall and fourth in his age category in 30.30.

Four brave Denbigh Harriers made up 39 runners who ran up Moel Hebog in Beddgelert on Saturday in the fourth race in the Welsh Fell Running Championship Series.

The course was shortened due to the 45mph winds on the summit - and a few were quietly pleased with this decision as it cut out the technical ridge climb! The race began with a 1,900ft, two-mile climb with no let up.

This was followed by a steep two-mile descent with big gusts of wind blowing behind which made the technical terrain difficult to navigate.

Luckily all four made it back down to Beddgelert in one piece having had superb races.

First Harrier to finish was Vic Belshaw, 12th overall and the second M60 in 52.08.

Next was Katy Baugh, finishing 18th and the fifth female after a brilliant run in 54.04.

Mike Hobday, with his second mountain run of the week, finished 27th in 62.07, with Menai Baugh finishing strongly as the third F60 and 34th overall in 72.56.
