ALTHOUGH they suffered a narrow loss, Ruthin managed to haul themselves off the foot of the North Wales Cricket League Division Two standings over the weekend.
Ruthin had home advantage versus promotion-chasing Hawarden Park 2nds in their latest encounter and they managed to gain three points from their efforts.
It was Ruthin who opted to bat first after winning the toss and they reached 147 for nine by the conclusion of their 40 overs.
Duncan Roberts (49) and Jac Evans (37) were the chief scorers for the home side, with Josh Duckworth (23), Dafydd Roberts (13) and skipper Jamie Hughes (10) also contributing.
Josh McVeigh (4-28) was the pick of the bowlers for Hawarden Park, who then replied with a winning 148 for six.
Jared Bennett (40) and Michael Almond (39 not out) led the chase, as Oliver Jones (3-19) and Jac Evans (3-39) kept Ruthin interested.
