IT'S been a bit windy for Denbigh Harriers!

The fourth race in the North Wales Junior Fell Race series took place on Moel Y Gamelin in what what can only be described as a hurricane!

These were extremely hard conditions for the youngsters and the two mini Denbigh Harriers, who have so far completed all four races to date, with two to go.

Ifan Wood came third in boys' under-nines event.

This was incredible after taking a tumble at the top of the mountain, but he ploughed on with pure determination.

A fantastic and strong run saw Saoirse McDonnell take first place in the under-nine girls' event.

Saturday saw three Harriers run the Ultra Trail Snowdonia 50, describing it as a brutal race!

There was an amazing atmosphere at the start in Llanberis, with more than 750 runners from over 34 countries taking part.

The race was 32 miles in distance with 10,600 feet of climbing over tough boggy, wet mud and very technical sections over rocky terrain.

The route went over several mountains including Moel Eilio, Myndd Mawr, taking the Ranger path over Yr Wyddfa and the technical section over Y Lliwedd, before ascending Yr Wyddfa once again via the Pyg track with a finish down the Llanberis path.

First Harrier to finish was Iwan Evans in a brilliant time of 6-48.52.

Daniel Jones, whose training had been hampered by an injury, managed to finish in an equally impressive 7-29.04, whilst Victoria Whitehead’s training paid off with a fantastic finishing time of 9-36.12.

Also running on Saturday was Harrier Jeni Richards racing in the Ham and Lyme 50k - a race from Ham Hill in Somerset to Lyme Regis in Dorset along the Liberty Trail.

The route had 3,490ft of ascent over fields, woodland, farm tracks and roads with lots of stiles, nettles and cattle and a fair bit of rain and mud.

Jeni finished in a brilliant time of six hours and 10 minutes.

Sunday saw the Denbigh Harriers hold a successful Fairy Freckled Cow Trail Race at the Alwen.
