IT'S a blue Christmas in the Vale of Clwyd.

The big Boxing Day Vale of Clwyd derby deservedly went the way of Chris Williams' Ruthin Town.

In front of a huge crowd in excess of 500 at Memorial Park Fields, Ruthin claimed the three Huws Gray Alliance points on offer, which secured a league double over their near neighbours.

Meanwhile, it was Davies at the double as Bala Town made it a cracking Christmas.

Hot on the heels of their pre-festive triumph versus Cefn Druids, Colin Caton's charges took another giant stride to securing a top-six Welsh Premier League finish when they defeated hosts Prestatyn Town 2-0 on Boxing Day.

Frontman Les Davies bagged both of the goals as the Lakesiders secured their 10th league success of the campaign.

The away Town made a bright start and in the second minute, Mike Hayes crossed to Ian Sheridan, who mistimed his effort.

As Bala continued to press, Davies put an effort wide six minutes later, while the breakthrough eventually arrived in the 14th minute.

A stunning effort from Les Davies saw him supply a swivel kick that left the home keeper with no chance of saving.

Bala almost extended their lead in the 32nd minute when Stuart Jones' header was pushed off the line and the ball was cleared following a scramble.

The visitors remained on top towards the end of the half, with Stuart J Jones hitting the woodwork with an effort, while Chris Venables had a shot tipped over.

It was mainly Bala on the front foot in the second period, but they were unable to add to their tally.

One attempt was cleared off the line, while Venables and Jordan Evans also had glimpses of goal.

The three points were eventually safeguarded with less than a quarter-of-an-hour left as Bala stretched their lead.

Hyuga Tanner was the creator with a superb ball in and Les Davies did the rest to blast home his second goal of the afternoon.
