LLANNEFYDD 3

PENRHYNDEUDRAETH 1

IT'S fair to say that Llannefydd are proving to be tough nuts to crack on home soil this season.

Unbeaten at home since gaining promotion to Division Two of the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance League, Llan claimed a fine scalp to make progress in a knockout competition over the weekend.

Gwyndaf Pritchard's charges played host to Division One side Penrhyndeudraeth in the Mawddach Challenge Cup and although they fell behind, Llan came through the stern test with flying colours.

Things appeared to be heading in Penrhyndeudraeth's favour when Huw Quaeck handed the visitors the lead after a quarter-of-an-hour.

Back came Llannefydd, though, and the experienced figure of Owain Roberts managed to draw them level after half-an-hour.

Sam Jones marked his birthday in the best manner possible by handing Llan the lead after 58 minutes.

The home villagers maintained their advantage heading into the final 10 minutes and victory was signed, sealed and delivered with six minutes left to play when Owain Roberts scored his second of the afternoon.

Llannefydd's man of the match was captain Jared Jones.
