IT was tournament time for young rugby players over the weekend.

Dinbych U-10s headed to Wrexham to compete in the 15th annual Anglo-Welsh festival of rugby on Sunday.

As per the Welsh Rugby Union recommendations, the U-7 to U-11 age groups followed a festival format, where there are no winners or losers and the aim was for everybody to enjoy the rugby.

That said, the Dinbych team faced a formidable task against Abergele, Mold, Ruthin and Wrexham.

Each team at the end of every game was scored by the opposing coach using four separate criteria of team work, discipline, endeavour and sportsmanship.

The prize at the end would be the Anglo-Welsh Shield.

After four very close games against well-drilled opposition, Dinbych's fast paced and skilled offloading game very much came to the fore and they were unbeaten on the day.

Dinbych U-10s must also have played the game in the right way, because they were also deservedly awarded the Anglo-Welsh Shield as voted for by the coaches of the opposing sides.

With the season drawing to a close, Dinbych U-10s are finishing with a flourish.

Dinbych's squad on the day comprised of Tomos Sivill, Theo Jones, Isaac Jones, Iori Jones, Elsi Jones, Wil Jones, Iestyn Griffiths, Ben Hodgkinson, Alfie Corner, Guto Smith, Charlie McManus, George Roberts and Aron Prytherch.
