A VALE of Clwyd wrestling show will be providing bags of entertainment... while collecting bags of items for the community.

Britannia Wrestling is returning to Denbigh Town Hall later this month with an evening of great grappling, but organisers are also focused on helping the local community.

On Saturday, January 28, Britannia Wrestling Promotions will be taking its Royally Rumbled show to the Denbigh venue.

Britannia Wrestling is spearheaded by Alan Ainsworth and business partner Ry Lloyd.

Alan said: "When we were at Deeside, we used to charge people a small, nominal fee to have their picture taken with a superstar.

"But now, if people bring dried food, sanitary towels, or other items, they can have their picture taken for free.

"We know people are struggling. It's about helping the community and giving something back.

"Every event we do, we adopt a local foodbank.

"At Deeside, we had four-and-a-half bags of stuff."

A spokesman for the Denbigh Foodbank was full of praise for the initiative and he said the group welcomed any donations.

The action at Denbigh Town Hall promises a thrilling contest for grapple fans.

Royally Rumbled will see 30 wrestlers enter the ring one after another, with only one goal on their mind... to outlast the other 29.

At intervals of 90 seconds, a new wrestler will make his way to the ring.

Only one man can be victorious and that wrestler will win the chance to challenge for the PWI-BWP World catchweight championship.

This will the fifth show in Denbigh Town Hall since the end of the Covid-19 pandemic and Alan added: "It's historic.

"World of Sport used to film there with the likes of Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks."

A number of individual contests are also on the bill, with others to be announced prior to the evening.

Britannia Wrestling Promotions is also keen to hear from people who would like to give the sport a go.

They host up to 20 students in sessions at the wrestling school, located behind the Little Theatre, in Rhyl.

Doors for the Denbigh Town Hall show will open at 6.30pm on January 28, with the action getting underway at 7pm.

Tickets are £10 for adults and £7 for children, while a family ticket - for two adults and two children - costs £30.
