AFTER nine weeks, Dancing on Ice has come to a close - but for some contestants, such as Amber Davies, it has been an unforgettable experience.

West End star Amber, of Denbigh, made it to the eighth week of the competition with her pro-skating partner Simon Proulx-Senecal. Despite narrowly missing out on a place in the final, she performed briefly on Sunday evening (March 10) to Waterloo by ABBA.

The final saw former Coronation Street actor Ryan Thomas and his skating partner Amani Fancy crowned the winners of Dancing on Ice.

Susan Davies, Amber's mum, said: "It has been long days and long hours but she has loved every single minute of the experience.

"She'd accepted not making the final. I think she thought it was the right time to go out when she did. She's very much of the mindset 'it was meant to be.' The stress of the final would have been so much. She has had an amazing time, it was a brilliant experience and she has made so many friends.

"As a contestant, Ryan has been her rock. She was so pleased he won. She was routing for Adele [broadcaster Adele Roberts] being another female, but was so pleased Ryan won.

"She has had an amazing journey and we've all felt all the emotions.

"I just wanted her to stay upright and she excelled. She did amazing."

Sue enjoyed being part of the audience and often travelled down with her mother  Jeanette Griffiths.

The purpose-built rink is located at Bovingdon Airfield near Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire.

Sue said: "Everybody has been lovely. People have been coming up to me in the supermarket saying they are routing for Amber. It has been incredible.

"My mum absolutely loved coming to see Amber. She didn't come every week but they all got to know 'Nana'.

"Amber has learnt to skate and 'fly' - and all these skills are transferable.
