WILLIAM CHARLES EVANS

Published on 02/09/2020

WILLIAM 'Bill' CHARLES EVANS Announcing the passing on Sunday, August 23, 2020, of William 'Bill' Charles Evans, of Orchard House, Fforddlas, Llandyrnog, Denbighshire. Bill left us peacefully in his sleep at Ysbyty Glan Clywd. He was surrounded by love at the close and is survived by Sylvia, his wife of 58 years, his children Andrew, Robin, Gaynor, and Daniel, and grandchildren, Victoria, Mohan, Jacob, Helenya, Jasper, Scarlet, and Sonny. Bill will be remembered for his wit, wisdom and kindness. In 2017 he had an accident that left him with spinal cord damage. Bill met that challenge with bravery characteristic of a colourful and accomplished life that began in Liverpool on August 28, 1940 - the day of the Luftwaffe's first major blitz on the city. Bill, who was a life-long fan of Liverpool Football Club, went on to excel in his chosen career as a stone-mason, which began after he served an apprenticeship in Liverpool. He worked on many prestigious projects including the post-war restoration of St Paul's Cathedral, before his native entrepreneurial spirit took him to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Hong Kong, as an international stone contractor. Bill and Sylvia moved to North Wales in 1986, founding B.E. Marble & Granite Ltd in Bryn Saith Marchog, which became an important local employer where Bill shared his skills and knowledge. Bill's funeral is taking place at 2pm on Thursday, September 3, at Denbighshire Memorial Park and Crematorium, St Asaph. Instead of flowers, the family kindly asks well-wishers to make a donation to the North Wales Animal Rescue charity at ncar.org.uk. He will be sadly missed Further enquiries to Andrew Williams at Morris Funeral Directors 182 Rhuddlan Road, Rhyl. Tel 01745 331792.
