THIS year’s Denbigh and Flint Show proved a huge success as thousands flocked from Denbighshire, Flintshire and beyond to see the best of agriculture the region has to offer.
The major one-day agricultural show is attended by tens of thousands every year and this summer was no different, showing that while farming in the region has faced a difficult period of late there remains plenty to be optimistic about.
The official show opening was held by President Lieutenant Colonel Jane Eyton-Jones at the Main Ring, whose father, Philip, the show yard director sadly passed away in 2017 after being a strong presence at the show in recent years.
The president gave way to all the show had to offer. The hotly-contested series of exhibition competitions saw light horse classes in Mountain and Moorland Ridden, Ex-Racehorses and Cleveland Bays take to the stage, as well as cattle judging - which included an award from Denbigh Town Council for the Best Dairy Animal - sheep judging, including the competitions Supreme Sheep Championship and Best Ram Lamb Hill & Lowland, concluded by pigs and shire horses.
Also getting in on the action was showjumping, a companion dog show, falconry display, parade of cars and tractors and a quad-bike display team.
The winners of the exhibition competitions gathered at the Main Ring for the Grand Parade of Prize Winners at the end of the show.
