THERE was no quarter given as Mark Webster enjoyed his best tournament run of the year.
Sunday's PDC Players' Championship event saw the Denbigh dartist make a welcome return to form to battle his way through to the quarter-finals.
Despite being handed a tough draw, Webster superbly made his way through to the last-eight and his run began with an impressive 6-1 defeat of Terry Jenkins.
Things were closer in the next round, but Mark did enough to see off Australian Kyle Anderson, before he swept past Zoran Lerchbacher 6-1 during the last-32 stage.
That set up a tasty last-16 meeting with multiple world champion Raymond van Barneveld.
It was Webster who prevailed 6-3 and his opponent in the quarter-finals was Simon Whitlock.
Unfortunately for Mark, there was to be no semi-final appearance and it was the Australian player who ran out a 6-3 winner.
Adrian Lewis ended Whitlock's run at the semi-final stage, averaging 105 on his way to a 6-1 scoreline.
Mickey Mansell claimed his maiden PDC title after a 6-4 win over Lewis in the final.
Turning to Saturday's Players' Championship tournament in Barnsley and it proved to be a mixed day for Webster.
He opened the event with a fine 6-0 whitewash of Peter Hudson, but this was followed by a 6-4 loss at the hands of Kyle Anderson.
Michael Smith was able to secure his second ranking victory of the year with a 6-2 win over Adrian Lewis in the final.
Friday was marked by two UK qualifiers for forthcoming European Tour events.
Aiming to book a spot in the field for the European Darts Grand Prix, Mark experienced a 6-3 reverse in his last-72 meeting with James Wade.
There was another early defeat for Webster in the qualifier for the Dutch Darts Masters and he was beaten 6-3 by Alan Tabern.
