THE family of a husband and wife who died following a crash near Denbigh have been reunited with a camera they presumed lost.
The camera belonged to Danny Pieraerts, 65, and Agnes De Schuymer, 64, who died on Friday, April 20.
The Belgian couple were travelling on their motorcycle on the A543 between Groes and Denbigh when the incident happened, at about 11am.
A Sony Cybershot camera, which contained poignant photographs taken just before the crash happened, has now been found in a nearby field; a local contractor cutting hay found it as their machinery had a metal detector attached.
PC Jo Roberts, family liaison officer said: “We were so pleased to be able to tell the family that the camera had been found and that we had been able to download the photographs.
“The family wished to express their thanks to everybody for their help in locating the camera. The contractor had remembered reading about the appeal so he called his wife and she collected it and took it to Denbigh Police Station.
“Finding the camera was so poignant to them as it contained the final few photos taken together as a group. We would also like to express our thanks for their assistance.”
The camera was attached to a lanyard being worn by the pillion passenger.
North Wales Police have sent on the photographs to Belgium.
