A CHRISTMAS jumper day held between companies in Denbighshire has raised a total of £737 for the Welsh Air Ambulance charity.

Staff of several businesses on the Colomendy Industrial Estate in Denbigh, including those at Shorecliffe training and D. Jones Plant Hire, planned the event in order to raise much-needed funds for their local charity.

People of all ages joined in with the fun last Friday by donning their favourite festive jumpers and donating money to the cause.

A raffle was held to help raise further money for the charity and prizes included cakes, boxes of chocolates and bottles of wine.

All funds raised during the event will now be put towards the Welsh Air Ambulance charity, which relies on donations such as these to help keep it running.

It does not receive direct funding from the government nor does it qualify for National Lottery funding. It needs to raise £6.5m annually to operate the service, with each mission on average costing £1500.
