Ysgol Brynhyfryd

RUTHIN'S Ysgol Brynhyfryd has once again been designated a ‘Green’ – Category A school under the Welsh Government's school categorisation system.

This follows another year of outstanding results that saw Brynhyfryd become the highest performing secondary school in North Wales and one of the highest performing in Wales.

A wide range of information is used to categorise schools and this includes information on how a school is led and managed, the quality of learning and teaching and the level of support and challenge needed to improve.

Other information, such as teacher assessments, attendance and examination results, is also included and this sets the background for the categorisation process.

The categorisation colour also indicates the level of support a school needs (with the schools in the green category needing the least support and those in the red category needing the most intensive support).

Following the improvements in the outcomes, Ysgol Brynhyfryd’s pupil numbers have increased year-on-year and their intake for September looks set to see another significant increase.

Headteacher Geraint Parry said: “I am delighted to share this great news with you and would like to offer my sincere thanks for the continued support of the parents and families for all that we are trying to do to improve the life chances of our young people.

"I would also like to recognise and thank all the staff at the school for their tireless effort and dedication – without whom none of this would be possible.”
