POLICE have urged homeowners to secure their sheds and outbuildings following a spate of burglaries in the Ruthin area.

The warning comes following reports of 13 burglaries of sheds and garages since Thursday, March 14.

Sgt Mike Robinson of North Wales Police said: “The majority of the offences are being committed where items such as tools and bicycles have been stolen.

“We are asking residents to ensure that they property mark items of value; that they store them securely and that outbuildings and sheds are locked and checked regularly.

“We have increased our patrols in the area to reassure the public and ask that anyone with any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem to come forward and assist us.”

Anyone who may have seen someone acting suspiciously, or who may have been offered tools and bikes in the area during the past week, should call police on 101 or use North Wales Police's live webchat. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
