WEEK 22 of Denbigh Golf Club's winter league saw an impressive field with 145 entries.

For the second week running, Steve Clarke took first place with a magnificent 43 points.

A tremendous back nine of 23 points was just about good enough for Clarke to shade victory from Jon Roberts, who also scored 43 points.

This was enough for him to win the bronze division.

Second in the bronze division was Eifion Lloyd Jones, who maintained his habit of picking up points in each week played.

The silver division was won by Richard Wynne with 39 points, just one point clear of Llew Davies.

With the finishing post very much in sight, the leading group is setting itself for what is going to be a phenomenally close finish. Llew Davies and Marc Shaw are joint leaders on 82 points, with

'Mr Consistency' Eifion Lloyd Jones tucked in on 78 points.

Very much the dark horse is Steve Clarke, who has picked up 30 points in the last two weeks and who finds himself in fourth place with 77 points.

Andy McColl and Darren Foulkes remain in the mix with 74 and 67 points respectively.

The weather took its toll on the competition in week 21.

High winds, torrential rain and flooded greens meant that only 50 members managed to submit a card, with only three players scoring better than par.

Stuart Clarke scored an impressive 39 points despite the conditions and secured first place.

The ever consistent Peter Howland came second with 38 points, a point ahead of Paul Roberts, who was third.
