IT'S been a stroll in the park for local runners.

On Saturday, several runners from BACE Fitness completed the tough two-lap 5k parkrun at Bodelwyddan Castle.

The first of the contingent home was Dawn Barraclough in a time of 25.46, which was enough to see her as the third lady across the line.

She was followed by Heather Lewis, who finished as the seventh lady in 27.24, with Ceri Blunt completing the course in 31.18.

Next in were two people who have just completed the beginners group, and they both did amazingly well.

Ruth Williams made things look easy to cross the line in 34.31.

Pedr Jones' 37.12 was a brilliant time, especially after he missed the last week of the group, and he also loved the hill!

A well done goes to all of the beginners who have completed the course, but who unfortunately couldn't attend the parkrun over the weekend.

Ten people have gone from running two minutes to completing a 5k run.

The next beginners' course starts in Ruthin on April 10 (6.45pm).

Anybody who would like to complete a 5k run in 12 weeks' time can get in touch with Peter Barraclough, at BACE Fitness, on 07519 910514.

With no major races in the area last weekend, members of Prestatyn Running Club turned to parkruns to stretch their legs.

A total of 19 members turned out in four different venues, with some excellent results.

At Bodelwyddan, Steve Skates and Josh Cerefice made it one-two for the club, with Steve repeating his victory of the previous week.

Last week, three members travelled to Fron, near Caernarfon, for the first of this year’s Tuesday might series of fell-races, a traditional short season-opener at Moel Tryfan.

Lois Lee, running for St David’s College, had a superb run, coming 37th overall in 23.05.

Steve Brown was 92nd in 28.16 and Helen Alefounder, having a rare outing on the hills, finished 126th in 36.32.

Next Sunday sees several members taking on a new challenge, the Coastal Half-marathon from Colwyn Bay to Prestatyn along the cycle track.
