A FILM about a bouncer who becomes the driver of a classical pianist will hit the big screen in Denbigh next week.

Denbigh Film Club, which claims the title of "the best film club in Denbigh", showcases ten films each year at Theatre Twm o'r Nant in the town.

The upcoming screening is The Green Book (2019), sees a working-class Italian-American bouncer become the driver of an African-American classical pianist who is on a tour of venues through the 1960s American South.

The title is a reference to The Negro Motorist Green Book, a travel guide for African-Americans published from 1936 to 1967 that promised “vacation without aggravation".

Making the film more than half a century after the events it depicts hasn't muted its powerful message about overcoming prejudice.

The screening takes place at 7.30pm on Friday, May 24. Doors open at 7pm.

Tickets cost £4.

A bar and refreshments are available.
