CORWEN Day Nursery is celebrating after it was announced it had been shortlisted for National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA)’s Nursery of the Year – Wales award.

Parents wrote praising testimonies and cast their votes to help Corwen Day Nursery become a finalist during this year’s awards cycle.

A parent from the nursery commented: “The excellence shines through every aspect of Corwen Day Nursery from the wonderful care, superb educational standards, great facilities and amazing staff.

"Thank you for all that you do for our daughter and us as a family, the extra touches that you provide unconditionally never go unnoticed or unappreciated. We couldn’t have wished for better nursery care.”

Nursery owner Carmen Roberts Davenport said: “We are delighted that a small rural nursery has been shortlisted for the Nursery of the Year award.

"We feel extremely honoured that our parents have taken the time to vote for and support us in delivering high quality care.

"Both staff and children here are absolutely ecstatic.

"It was lovely to read what the parents had written about us and it is apparent that the staff are extremely highly thought of; one parent had commented that she sees the nursery as a huge part of her children’s lives and the team as part of their family.”

NDNA chief executive Purina Tanuku said: “A huge well done to Carmen and her team.

"This is a fantastic achievement for them.

"They should be extremely proud of their amazing and hard work in the early year’s sector and all that they do in the community and supporting young children.

"I look forward to seeing them at the ceremony in Warwickshire.”

Broadcaster Katie Thistleton will be announcing the winners at the ceremony at the Chesford Grange hotel in Warwickshire, on June 28.

This year’s awards have seen 190 applications and just under 6,500 votes.
