To celebrate the end of a successful year, a primary school is opening its doors to give parents and prospective parents a chance to see pupils participating in a host of fun, interactive learning sessions.

The open afternoon at Ysgol Llanbedr will be held next Wednesday, July 10 from 1.30 until 3.15pm and refreshments including homemade cake will be on offer.

Pupils will be in their classes engaging with a variety of table top exercises such as science experiments, maths puzzles and creative activities. There will also be stories in a reading corner and music recitals.

During the afternoon, parents and guests will have an opportunity to explore the school’s outdoor learning facilities and play areas which are set against the stunning backdrop of the Clwydian Range.

Suzanne Van Loock, headteacher, said: “We have had a wonderful year and received the best possible news after the consultation period that the school is to remain open.

“There are exciting plans in place for the future and we are preparing for the introduction of new aspects of the curriculum such as the expansion of ICT learning. To coincide with this, from September, we will be giving all our year 6 pupils a new iPad to aid the development of skills in this area.

“The open afternoon is intended as a celebratory showcase of the school. Parents, carers, grandparents and anyone who would like to see what the school has to offer is invited to pop along, everyone will be welcome.”

School prospectuses and admission forms will be available at the event.
