A LOCAL darter has bagged a useful sponsorship for this season's county campaign.

Lady darting supremo Rachel Kingdon, who plays for the Wings club's ladies' Superleague side and has turned out for the Golden Lion in recent years in the Denbigh league, has been sponsored for the season by the Wings club.

She will hope to carry on her brilliant form on the county scene, where she was ranked as one of the best lady players last term as Clwyd secured promotion to BICC Division Three.

The Denbigh and District Summer Darts League's A Division is in for a grandstand finish as three sides are still in the running for the coveted trophy.

Current leaders Wings A survived a major scare as they found themselves 3-1 down to stablemates Wings B, but eventually recovered to grab seven vital points and a 5-3 victory.

The Wingmen joined them at the top with a brilliant 8-0 dismissal of Kinmel Arms A, helped by a Dil Martin 180, Danny Tinney's 16-dart leg and a super 116 out by Dale Jones.

Railway A are two points behind the joint leaders as they recorded a 6-2 win at Masons B.

Once more, there was the usual class darts from Carl Jones, with a steady 18-dart leg and a 151 outshot, while Clwyd county man Dave Davies pinged in a maximum.

The B-league top two shared the spoils in a tasty 4-4 result.

This result sees White Lion A hold a two-point lead over Railway B.

Steve Evans was in fine form for Cons B as he produced and 18-dart leg with a 103 finish to help his side to a 5-3 victory over Golden Lion B.

The Mixed double competition has been whittled down to the finalists after the preliminary rounds took place.

Board two at the Golden Lion saw the shock of the competition as holders and multiple finalists Dave and Claire Davies were toppled out in the first round by Clwyd county hotshot Rachel Kingdon and her teenage partner Bradley Roberts.

This pairing eventually booked their final place with a board final victory over Rebecca Parrin and Huw Watson.

Over on the main board at the Golden, Dilwyn Martin and Sarah Martin booked their final ticket after seeing off Mark and Vicky Langan in another competitive group.
