Clwyd - Denbigh WI

LAST month, the Clwyd - Denbigh National Federation of Women’s Institute held its annual council meeting at the Royal International Pavilion in Llangollen.

It was a well attended day.

Following the formal reports, the members enjoyed a very informative talk by Jo Woodward, from the Groundwork charity.

Groundwork is helping people out of fuel poverty.

They have teamed up with Energyhelpline to launch a new impartial service that saves money by getting the best energy deals for people.

The afternoon was spent listening to the international acclaimed keynote speaker Chris Lubbe, formerly Nelson Mandela's bodyguard.

The members were totally spellbound by his 90-minute talk as Chris took those present through a journey about his life in South Africa and how he met Nelson Mandela and served for him, all drawing on his incredible story of resistance against Apartheid.

It was truly an inspirational and emotional afternoon.
