WATER doesn't concern some fire-breathing Dragons!

Members of Denbigh Dragons swimming club were able to make a splash at the Wrexham junior sprint meet.

Wrexham Waterworld pool served as the venue for November’s annual junior sprint meet, hosted by Wrexham Swimming Club.

Junior swimmers from 11 clubs across the region came together to race over short distances.

As was to be expected, the competition was furious and the races came thick and fast.

Once again, Denbigh Dragons put in a stellar performance, with a team of 12 swimmers aged nine to 12 years winning five gold medals, five silver and five bronze.

Medals were also awarded for three fourth, four fifth and three sixth-placed finishes.

The Denbigh girls finished in third place on the day, with the boys in fifth position and the team finished fourth overall.

This was an excellent showing from these young swimmers, with head coach Justin Jones praising their effort and commitment.

There were 41 personal bests / new times set from just 51 events, a very positive and satisfying outcome for a young team that is clearly on the up.
