THE Big Bala Dip is set to return for a third time today.
Residents of all ages will brave the predicted cold temperatures to take a swim in Llyn Tegid.
In January 2019, £490 was collected for the South Snowdonia Search & Rescue team via donations from Bala Town Council, the then Mayor Sharon Wyn Evans and the swimmers who took part.
The 2020 event will again be in support of the voluntary organisation. Organiser Clare Mackintosh said: “We are looking forward to seeing everyone on Wednesday.
“If you’re dipping, please be safe and sensible. If you’re unwell or not used to cold water swimming, please seek advice, or consider stopping at your waist.
“But don’t let that put you off! Those of us who swim all year round can testify that the water is beautifully bracing, and you will feel amazing afterwards.”
Dippers are expected to gather at Llyn Tegid for around 10.30am. Ahead of the event, Clare has issued some pointers which may be useful.
The South Snowdonia Search & Rescue Team will be on hand to provide dippers with some much needed hot drinks and will be collecting donations before and after the dip.
