A PUPIL in a Denbigh primary school has tested positive for Coronavirus and 24 other pupils from the same class have been told to self isolate.

The remainder of Ysgol Frongoch, in Rhyl Road, will continue using stringent hygiene procedures.

In a statement Denbighshire County Council said: “We can confirm a pupil at Ysgol Frongoch has tested positive for coronavirus. We are following public health advice and parents or guardians have been informed by Public Health Wales via letter that 24 children from the same classroom will be required to self isolate for 14 days as a precautionary measure.

“The school has been following a stringent hygiene process and will continue to do so, as well as other measures to reduce as much contact as possible with other groups of pupils.

“The school has acted as quickly as possible to inform parents or guardians of the position and will be working closely with the regional Test, Trace and Protect service to provide information to families.

“The rest of the school will continue to remain open and pupils are advised to continue attending the school, unless they show any symptoms of Coronavirus.”

Ysgol Frongoch shares the same site as the Welsh medium primary school, Ysgol Twm o’r Nant, and Ty’n Fron, the primary annexe of Ysgol Plas Brondyffryn.
