Pupils at Ysgol Brynhyfryd in Ruthin have been asked to stay at home today (Thursday) following a suspected coronavirus case amongst a support member of staff.

A letter has been issued to parents and guardians by the secondary school's headteacher to inform them of the position.

Arrangements have been put in place to provide online teaching to all pupils and they have been urged to follow the regular school timetable.

Further information on when the school will re-open will be issued to parents/ guardians, once the result of the test is known.

Cllr Huw Hilditch-Roberts, Cabinet Lead Member for Education, Children’s Services and Public Engagement, said: “The school is being closed purely as a precautionary measure, due to the fact that cleaning of the school cannot take place.

"Ensuring the strictest hygiene measures possible is critical in the efforts against covid-19 and as a result, a decision has been taken to keep the school closed on Thursday.

“We await the results of the tests and will provide the latest information to parents and guardians as quickly as possible via the school’s communication channels.

“We would like to thank parents and guardians for their co-operation and would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.
