HUNDREDS of pupils have been told to self-isolate following positive tests for coronavirus.

Denbighshire County Council said almost 170 pupils using the same bus route to Ysgol Glan Clwyd in St Asaph have been told to follow self-isolation rules following a confirmed Covid-19 case.

Nearly 120 pupils and nine staff members have also had to self-isolate at Ysgol Bryn Hedydd in Rhyl.

Another 23 pupils and two staff members at Ysgol Pendref, Denbigh are also required to self-isolate.

A council spokesperson said the schools are working with Public Health Wales, the local authority and NHS Wales Test, Trace and Protect.

"168 year 11 pupils together with pupils on the B553C bus at Ysgol Glan Clwyd, St Asaph, will be required to self-isolate following a confirmed Covid-19 case associated with the school," a council spokesperson said.

"A total of 117 pupils and 9 members of staff at Ysgol Bryn Hedydd, Rhyl, will be required to self-isolate until December 17 following a confirmed Covid 19 case associated with the school.

"A total of 23 pupils and two members of staff at Ysgol Pendref, Denbigh, will be required to self-isolate until December 14 following a confirmed Covid-19 case associated with the school.

"The schools are working closely with Public Health Wales, the Local Authority and NHS Wales Test, Trace and Protect to ensure that all the appropriate measures are in place to protect students, staff and the wider community.

"All parents and carers have been informed and both the Local Authority and the schools have consulted with Public Health Wales."
