A GWYDDELWERN man is set to tackle a number of activities for the Denbighshire charity he volunteered and worked for for more than a year.

Kieran Davenport started volunteering with the South Denbighshire Community Partnership (SDCP) in February 2019, before going full time with them four months later.

But as Covid-19 began to take it's toll on funding for the SDCP, based at the Canolfan Ni Centre in Corwen, Kieran moved on to another job with Tesco in November 2020.

The SDCP offers support to a number of people in Corwen and beyond in order to reduce isolation, increase access to services and also introduce activities for the benefit of the community.

Now, to help with raising funds for the charity, 26-year-old Kieran is set to take on a number of activities and challenges in the coming months.

He has been doing a monthly raffle on Facebook and has also began a '500 miles in 50 days' challenge, raising £1,670 of his £4,200 target.

Kieran said: ""I did the 500 miles challenge back in August and it almost broke me so going for it again will hopefully underline my commitment... or my insanity!

"I set up the fundraiser after being stuck in isolation for a few months. It made me realise even more that for so many people, this is their life, full time.

"With the centres help, there is huge support for easing that struggle for a lot of elderly people in the area. It was an easy choice choosing the SDCP, especially seeing everything first hand myself.

"The end goal for my fundraiser is to walk up to Everest base camp with a friend of mine who is also self-funding. That's in November this year and I'm hoping to take a Welsh flag to base camp with me and don the logo of any companies that do support me as a thank you too."
