HUNDREDS of calls have been made to North Wales Fire Service as Storm Christoph continues to cause disruption.

A spokesman for the service confirmed that 'a high volume of calls' were received throughout Wednesday and overnight into Thursday.

The control room received over 200 calls, with crews or officers attending 56 calls.

A total of 48 properties were attended, and 28 casualties were rescued.

Major incidents included evacuating homes in Bangor-on-Dee and aiding residents in Ruthin.

The fire service aided residents to the rest centre until water levels dropped, as 15 properties were flooded.

The service spokesman confirmed boats were used to evacuate eight people and ten people self-evacuated.

Early on Thursday morning, one crew was sent to Caergwrle at 7.19am to rescue a male from his vehicle which was stuck in flood water.

Other incidents throughout included flooding outside Penley hospital, flooding in properties across Wrexham and Flintshire and several incidents of people needing assistance after cars got stuck in flood water.
