STAFF at a Denbighshire school have come up with their own Covid-19 version of a catchy Disney song as they prepare to welcome pupils back on Monday.

From Monday, all primary pupils and those in qualifications years will return. Schools will have the flexibility to bring year 10 and 12 learners back and more learners will return to colleges.

There will also be flexibility for in-school check-ins for all other pupils. All learners will return after the Easter break.

With that in mind, staff at Denbigh's Myddelton College have certainly given their pupils something to talk about when they do make a comeback next week.

Senior Learning Team (SLT) members, including headmaster Andrew Allman, have put together their very own version of the hit Disney song 'You're Welcome' which features in the 2016 film Moana.

In the movie, about the strong-willed daughter of a chief of a Polynesian village who is chosen by the ocean itself to reunite a mystical relic with the goddess Te Fiti, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson (Maui) is responsible for singing the song.

However, the Myddelton College version includes plenty of Covid-19 inspired lines about online teaching and so much more to give it a relevant feel.

And it's gone down a treat so far since it was uploaded to Youtube earlier this morning - with viewers on the school's Facebook page also hailing it as 'fantastic', 'amazing' adding it provided a 'real Friday feeling' for those who watched it.

A statement from the school regarding the video read: "Our SLT are looking forward to welcoming you all back on Monday! *Warning* this song will be in your head all day ... #feelgoodfriday."

Myddelton College, a co-educational day and boarding school has 240 pupils and 70 staff and was the UK’s newest independent school when it opened in the autumn of 2016.

Earlier this year the school made use of virtual lessons to keep pupils around the world up to date with their studies through its pioneering use of an online classroom to beat the disruption caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
