YEAR 6 pupils at a Denbighshire school met with the MS for Clwyd West last week to discuss their concerns about climate change and its consequences.
Pupils from Ysgol Bro Cinmeirch in Llanrhaeadr recently staged a climate change protest outside their school.
Darren Millar MS visited the school on Friday after receiving a letter from pupil Llion Griffiths informing him of their protest.
Mr Millar said: “It is extremely encouraging that children are taking such a keen interest in one of the most important challenges that we find ourselves facing. Climate change is a global emergency which requires a global response.
"We all have our part to play and it was good that the children, despite their young age, had a firm understanding of the individual action that is required."
“We had a wide ranging discussion and I was very impressed with how all the children presented themselves. They were very well informed and asked questions on electric cars, renewable energy, rising sea levels and other issues. They are keen to ensure that the Welsh Government and the Senedd takes action to protect the planet.
“I thank Llion for inviting me to discuss this important issue and the headteacher and all teaching staff at the school for ensuring they are well educated about climate change.”
