BALA TOWN FC stepped up preparations for their cup clash against Flint Town United this Saturday with a resounding friendly win.

The Lakesiders will face fellow top-flighters the Silkmen away from home in the Nathaniel MG Cup on Saturday (2.30pm kick-off).

Colin Caton's side's latest friendly match saw them crush Ramsbottom United 6-1 at Maes Tegid with supporters now allowed in to the ground.

It took just two minutes for Bala to take the lead - Danny Walker-Rice was at the back post and controlled a cross well to fire them in front.

It was 2-0 just four minutes later when Will Evans' deceptive cross found its way into the net, looping over the keeper and in.

On 16 minutes, the visitors found a way back into the match, heading home from a corner.

But Bala quickly restored their two-goal cushion on 22mins, former Wales international Dave Edwards on the scoresheet.

The vastly-experienced midfielder, who also played in the Premier League with Wolves once upon a time, converted a penalty to make it 3-1.

It was 4-1 on 37mins as energetic midfielder Lassana Mendes powered his way through into a one-on-one situation with the last defender, dragged the ball over his left shoulder and smashed the ball past the Ramsbottom keeper.

And there was still time for one more before half time too - Walker-Rice adding his second goal of the game by finishing beautifully into the top left hand corner to give Bala a resounding lead at the break.

The second half was quieter, but Bala maintained their pressure on the visiting defence.

A sixth goal was added fifteen minutes from time when Mendes added a sensational second to his tally for the afternoon.

He dribbled his way past four defenders before rounding the goalkeeper to score and complete a wonderful scoreline for Bala Town which put them in high spirits before their big cup match this coming Saturday.
