DAVE Davies sparkled on his return to the Clwyd Superleague set up as The Masons picked up their first points of the campaign.

The Denbigh-based darts side bounced back from three defeats of late to win their latest match-up in convincing fashion.

Clwyd County regular Davies grabbed the man of the match award with a 63 average against the Melrose of Shotton.

Further wins by Gary Williams, Pete Lewis, Steve Gierke and a last game victory by Skipper Dave Cooke helped the Denbigh unit topple their opponents with a score of 5-3 to register a first win of the season.

In what was an unusual environment of playing two league games in one day at the Penyffordd legion, The Masons then took on the Delph of Acrefair just a few hours later.

In that one, they pulled out a great 4-4 draw with Dave Davies stealing the show once more, with a fantastic 89 average with his victory adding to wins by Steve Gierke, Pete Lewis and Huw Watson to secure the point for the Masons.
