A NEW housing development in Denbighshire has been shortlisted for a top award.

The UK Housing Awards is the biggest and best awards in the housing sector, celebrating the outstanding work of landlords who have gone above and beyond for their tenants.

ClwydAlyn, who completed the Llanbedr Dyffryn Clwyd project, has been shortlisted for the ‘Climate Change project of the year’ which looks at exemplar approaches to delivering new sustainable homes whilst reducing carbon and being kind to our planet.

Executive Director of Development at ClwydAlyn, Craig Sparrow said: “We are delighted to have been shortlisted for such a prestigious award. We are breaking new ground in confronting the environmental challenges that lie ahead, and we want to be a sector leader when it comes to tackling climate change.

“The current Climate Emergency is the defining crisis of our time and ClwydAlyn is committed to play our part in addressing the matter. As part of our commitment, our team have been working hard on effective responses, looking at new and innovative methods of construction and local supply chains to create zero carbon homes.

“These methods were used in our recent Llanbedr Dyffryn Clwyd project where 38 timber-framed homes were completed, surpassing the carbon target set by Royal Institute of British Architecture (RIBA)in their 2030 Climate Change campaign. This project stretched boundaries and embraced new technologies to build high-quality, ultra-low carbon homes."

ClwydAlyn is leading on ground-breaking low carbon initiatives. Not only using new technology to build innovative, low carbon new homes; ClwydAlyn also formed part of the Sero Optimised Retrofit project, utilising Intelligent Energy Systems to inform the retrofitting of existing homes; and led on establishing a Zero Carbon Housing Performance Hub in Wales.

The winners of the UK Housing Awards will be announced at a prestigious ceremony at the InterContinental London – The O2 on the evening of Thursday 25 November.
