ALMOST 1,000 new coronavirus were reported in North Wales alone, latest figures show.

Data released by Public Health Wales on October 8 shows that 5,705 new cases were reported across Wales - of which 980 were in the North.

They can be broken down as such:

• Anglesey – 90 (128.5 per 100,000 population)

• Conwy – 148 (126.3 per 100,000 population)

• Denbighshire – 173 (180.8 per 100,000 population)

• Flintshire – 209 (133.9 per 100,000 population)

• Gwynedd – 159 (127.6per 100,000 population)

• Wrexham – 209 (147.8 per 100,000 population)

BCUHB stats:

Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) – the largest health board in Wales – has reported 1,045 people have sadly died since the start of the pandemic, according to PHW data.

Figures from the Office for National Statistics, which are considered a stronger indicator of the overall impact of the virus, and which are based on all deaths where COVID is mentioned on the death certificate, stand at 1,527 for the health board area.

Hospital weekly data:

The weekly inpatients in all hospital wards in Betsi Cadwaladr UHB, as of October 3 stood at 2,319 with the number of confirmed patients at 101.

The number of hospital admissions was at 1,388. Of which 31 were positive on admission, 484 were tested on admission and 17 were tested positive on admission.

Vaccine status:

The latest vaccination figures for Wales reveals that over 2,389,159 people have taken up the offer of a single COVID vaccine dose. Meanwhile, a total of 2,228,132 people are double jabbed.

These figures cover the entire country of Wales and all those eligible for a vaccine dose.

The national picture:

Across Wales, another 5,705 COVID cases were confirmed in the latest figures, meaning that 377,734 people are now known to have contracted the coronavirus since the pandemic began.

There were 23 more deaths reported on Friday, with the figure at 5,965 across Wales since the start of the pandemic.
