A NEWLY modernised school kitchen is cooking up a treat for primary school pupils.

Ysgol Llanbedr has welcomed the new school kitchen facilities following a period of work on the site.

The previous kitchen at the school was deemed not fit for purpose to provide a full menu due to a lack of storage facilities and adequate equipment.

During the end of the 2021 summer term, the kitchen at Llanbedr was closed and the builders moved in to start the work.

The area has now been extended and completely modernised with a new floor, ceiling, energy efficient kitchen equipment and storerooms.

The new building and the equipment has been commissioned to allow for a full menu to be once again prepared on site.

Cllr Huw Hilditch-Roberts, lead member for education, children's services and public engagement, said: “We are pleased to be able to support the provision of a modern kitchen facility at Ysgol Llanbedr to help improve the school meal service on site.”

Sue Van Loock, head teacher of the Vale of Clwyd Federation of Ysgol Trefnant and Ysgol Llanbedr, added: “I am delighted with the new facility as we have a high take up of Denbighshire school meals every day and this will benefit all.”
